Patwino Plaque Campaign is Now Live

In the 1980s, 1500 acres of blue oak, chaparral, wetlands, and native wildflowers between Suisun Valley Road and Green Valley Road were under threat of development. A project called Stoneridge Estates was approved and would place over 400 homes on the land. The project was shelved but again in 2008, a developer proposed to build 370 homes on the property. What took place next was the most concerted community outreach campaign Solano Land Trust had ever embarked on. The projects were never built and eventually Solano Land Trust came in, rallying funding from multiple sources, and paying market rate for the land to preserve it forever. What resulted was a $13.5 million dollar purchase of the land which is now known as Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park. The name, bestowed upon the property by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation means “Southern Rock Home of the Patwin People”.

We opened this park in 2024, but the work didn’t stop then. Trail crews gather regularly, we’ve put together a garden crew to maintain our native plant garden, and all the park’s signage is finished and installed. Part of our restoration management plan includes planting acorns to fill in logged areas with the property’s signature oak trees. In partnership with Solano County Parks, we host regular docent-led hikes and nature programs. This work requires community support. We invite you to come visit and be inspired.

Patwino Worttla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park is more than a park—it is a place of reflection, connection, and gratitude for the land that sustains us. We invite you to be part of its legacy through our Gratitude Plaque Campaign. Name recognition opportunities are available in the Welcome Plaza Pavilion, where your name—or the name of a loved one—can be permanently displayed on a gratitude plaque.

Plaques may be dedicated:

  • In loving memory of someone special
  • In honor of a person who inspires you
  • With a nature-inspired quote to share words of beauty and reflection with all who visit
