Community Science- Frog Monitoring 07/11/25

Meet at Lynch Canyon front entrance gate at 7:30pm.
For July’s community science opportunity, we will be doing frog surveys at the Lynch reservoir by kayak/ and or canoe. Folks can stay on shore and monitor if they aren’t comfortable being in a watercraft. RSVP necessary by Monday, July 7th if you want to be in the watercraft (to ensure enough kayaks and safety gear).
No frog monitoring experience necessary, headlamps and flashlights strongly encouraged as it will be nighttime. A specific type of flashlight is required for frog monitoring and those will be provided, but if you have a flashlight that matches those requirements, please bring it as well. Dress in layers and bring water. We will also have water on site, as well as life jackets.
Flashlight requirements for frog monitoring:
-Focused beam
-white light
-400 lumens (or close to)
Folks can stay on shore and monitor if they aren’t comfortable being in a watercraft.
RSVP necessary by Monday, July 7th if you want to be in the watercraft (to ensure enough kayaks and safety gear).

Explore the hills between Suisun Valley and Green Valley, and see sweeping views of Solano County and beyond. Enjoying the vistas of Solano County and searching for wildflowers. Moderate to Strenuous, 4-6 miles, rain cancels, 9:30am-1:30pm.
Hike level: Moderate to Moderately Strenuous
Parking: Please park in the main parking lot. Parking is $5, payable by cash or card at the kiosk.
Participants are encouraged to expect to stay in the park during the entire duration of the activity which is from 9:30am – 1:30pm.
* Walking Sticks (if needed)
* Water ( participants will not be able to fill up at the park)
* Snack (docents may allow for a snack break during the hike)
* Sun or Rain protection (as needed)

This hike will take visitors westward along Middle Valley Trail leading to Prairie Ridge. Expect about a 5 mile hike at a moderate, but even pace over uneven ground. Muddy spots will have cattle prints. There are steep climbs over several hills with the longest at Prairie Ridge. It’s worth it to see the view of the northern San Francisco Bay.
Meet in the parking lot: Parking is $5. Please be prepared to pay by cash or check. Envelopes are in the iron ranger near the main gate.
*Please note, cancellation of the hike may occur due to County Fire Danger Warnings and closures of open spaces and parks. Once registered, you will receive any updates should this ever happen.
