Bird of Prey Hikes

Bird of Prey Season

Each year from fall through late winter West County Hawkwatch leads weekend hikes so people can learn about the birds of prey that call the Solano Land Trust properties their home.

During this viewing season, bring your binoculars and join a group to see the magnificent bids that rely on our protected agricultural open spaces for habitat. Birders of all levels of experience are welcome.

2026-2027 Bird of Prey Season: 

September 26 - 10am at Lynch Canyon Open Space

November 1 - 10am at Lynch Canyon Open Space 

November 22 - 10am at Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park 

December 5 - 10am at Lynch Canyon Open Space Park 

December 13 - 10am at Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park

Dedication and Honor

The Bird of Prey Seasons will be in honor of our dear friends Ken Poerner and Larry Broderick.  Their tireless dedication to conservation touched every aspect of Solano Land Trust’s work. 

Ken passed in 2021 after a ten-year battle with cancer.  It was Ken who first introduced the Solano Land Trust to Larry Broderick, and Larry’s expertise and passion been an invaluable asset to the land trust and the community we serve for many years.  Larry passed unexpectedly in 2024. 

We dedicate future Bird of Prey Seasons in loving memory of Larry and Ken for all the time and knowledge they shared with Solano Land Trust and the entire community.
