Solano County Ag: The Heart of Our Region
Solano Land Trust understands that you – our local agricultural landowners, farmers and ranchers – play a key role in shaping Solano County’s culture and communities. We are committed to working with you to help you make sure agriculture can continue to thrive on your land, and in our region, for generations to come. A key tool we use to support that goal is agricultural conservation agreements. For information about selling or donating an agricultural conservation agreement to Solano Land Trust, contact Conservation Director Tracy Ellison at tracy@solanolandtrust.org or info@solanolandtrust.org.
Priority Agricultural Regions for Protection

Solano Land Trust has identified priority regions for securing agreements, accounting for factors like soil quality, risk of conversion to other uses, water access, and potential support of regional biodiversity and climate resilience. Agreements are reviewed and managed on a case-by-case basis, and we work with landowners to understand what you are trying to accomplish by entering into a conservation agreement with us. All types of land may be eligible for participation in conservation agreements, with available funding sometimes driving which agreements are prioritized for purchase. Our vision is to work with willing landowners to protect 10,000 additional acres of high-quality agricultural lands by 2042.
Resources for Solano County Producers

Solano Land Trust staff works with local farmers and ranchers like you to provide helpful information, training, and other resources so that your lands can remain productive for generations to come. We share information and best practices about a variety of issues, from preserving soil health to protecting water quality and promoting groundwater recharge to supporting wildlife abundance. Our goal is to help you get the most value out of your land, both from crop and livestock production and with protecting our shared natural resources like clean air, clean water, healthy soils, and abundant wildlife.
