Japanese Exchange Students Visit Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park

In 1971, the City of Fairfield became a Sister City with Nirasaki, Japan. In order to foster greater cultural understanding, students have been visiting since. This was the case in December when a group of high school students went straight from adventures in the city to exploring the hills of Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park. With the guidance of docent Steve Cheun, they learned about the ecology of this area.

The hike was more a year in the making. Last year, it got rained out. The students came with one of their teachers. There were City of Fairfield representatives and staff members from Solano Land Trust. "The students were fascinated by the landscape but also fell in the love with the cows which graze on the lands in the park," Steve Cheun told us. The students went up a steep trail and took in expansive views of the valley below.
