Lynch Canyon Expansion Water Survey

The Lynch Canyon expansions increase the size of the open space park by 25% As we set about restoring and maintaining this land, one of the things we are looking for is water.

Barry Hill, and Erik Stromberg from Restoration Design Group and I conducted field work in October to assess stream and swale condition and consider best places to move or improve trail crossings to protect sensitive stream habitat while allowing the public to interact with the stream and its restoration.

We walked all channels and were pleased to find a lot of water being held, making us optimistic about restoration for wildlife and groundwater recharge.

We identified several spots for improving and moving crossings—a crucial step to designing trails in the Lynch Expansions.
