Solano Land Trust properties contain historic buildings and important cultural resources. Their diverse habitats provide a home to sensitive plants and wildlife, including many that are threatened or endangered. These lands are also working ranches with cattle or sheep grazing. We request that all visitors strictly adhere to the following rules, for their own safety and to protect historic, cultural, natural, and agricultural resources.
RULES FOR JEPSON PRAIRIE
Public Access
• Public access to Jepson Prairie is by docent-led tours only, except for the self-guided trail area.
• No pets, smoking, littering, fishing, hunting or firearms on the Preserve.
• Park in designated areas; no vehicles off the road or beyond fences.
• Do not pick flowers or collect any other specimens.
• Prior written permission is required for all research and educational use of the Preserve.
• Do not disturb marked research plots.
Research
• All scientific research must be approved in advance.
• Researchers must submit an application through the University of California Natural Reserve System here.
• All researchers are required to fill out the University of California Natural Reserve System metadata registry here, and to provide copies of all publications to the University of California Natural Reserve System for inclusion in the on-line bibliography here.

RULES FOR LYNCH CANYON

• Dogs are not allowed within the Open Space boundaries, for the protection of wildlife and livestock.
• Alcoholic beverages are not permitted within the Open Space boundaries.
• Motor vehicles are allowed only inside the staging area.
• Removing or collecting artifacts, plants, rocks or wildlife is prohibited by law.
• Camping, fishing and hunting are not permitted.
• Firearms, archery equipment, slingshots, air pistols, rifles, paintball guns and other weapons are not permitted.
• Due to high fire risk, smoking, campfires, barbecues, fireworks and other flames are not permitted.
• Deposit all trash in receptacles, or carry it out with you.
• Do not leave designated trails or climb fences. Obey “No Trespassing” signs.
• All trails are multiple-use. Mountain bike speed limit is 15 MPH. Reckless riding will result in a citation. Bicyclists shall call out or ring bell before passing. Bicyclists shall yield to hikers. Bicyclists and hikers shall yield to equestrians.
• Trail construction is not allowed unless under the supervision of authorized personnel.
• State law requires that a helmet be worn by all persons under 18 years of age using a bicycle, non-motorized scooter, skateboard or in-line or roller skates, in order to reduce or prevent the risk of serious head injury or death. Solano County Regional Parks also strongly recommends that all adults wear a helmet while biking.
• No swimming or wading in the reservoir.
• No feeding wild animals or harassing livestock.

RULES FOR THE KING-SWETT RANCHES
• The King-Swett Ranches are closed due to lack of funding for operations and maintenance. The public is still invited to join Solano Land Trust docent-led events – see our Events Calendar for details.

RULES FOR RUSH RANCH
Entry
• Entry to Rush Ranch is allowed only during designated hours. Entry outside of designated hours is restricted to Solano Land Trust staff and board members, staff from the San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (SF Bay NERR), volunteers from Rush Ranch Education Council (RREC) and Access Adventure, or others with prior approval from Solano Land Trust.
Vehicle Use
• Visitor parking is located in the gravel lot north of the barn and in the overflow lot designated by Solano Land Trust during special events. Parking in the gravel area south of the barn is reserved for official Solano Land Trust vehicles, people with disabilities, and short-term loading and unloading. Suisun Hill Trail users may park outside of the entrance without blocking the gate.
• The Rush Ranch Caretaker parks within the fenced yard of the caretaker residence.
• Parking and driving outside of gravel areas is not allowed except for Solano Land Trust staff, rancher, and Solano Land Trust - authorized volunteers, contractors, or visitors. Do not drive or park in tall grass during fire season, and avoid wet areas in rainy season.
Facilities
• No alcoholic beverages in public areas, except during Solano Land Trust approved events.
• No food and drink around exhibits at the Nature Center, except during Solano Land Trust approved events.
• Fire pit and BBQ in picnic area may be used with permission from Solano Land Trust staff. Picnic tables may be moved within picnic area. Do not move tables outside of picnic area without Solano Land Trust staff permission.
• Smoking is permitted within 10 feet of fire pit in picnic area, and under the olive tree in front of the Kit House. No smoking, campfires, barbecues or fireworks outside of these areas, due to high fire risk.
• Entry to caretaker's residence and yard is not allowed except with permission from Solano Land Trust or caretaker. Entry to barns, stables, corrals, and pastures is not allowed except with supervision from Solano Land Trust staff or volunteers from Access Adventure or Rush Ranch Educational Council.
Research
• All scientific research must be approved in advance. To request a permit for scientific research at Rush Ranch, click here.
Other Designated Uses/Restrictions
• All trails are designated for hiker use. All hikers shall remain on designated trails. Do not climb fences. Unauthorized trail construction is strictly prohibited.
• Obey "No Trespassing" signs and other posted restrictions. DO NOT trespass on private property.
• No equestrian or bicycle use of trails. Carriage driving on trails by Access Adventure is allowed by special permit.
• No access to marsh areas, wetlands, and other areas marked as sensitive habitat, except with prior written approval from Solano Land Trust and the San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. No swimming or wading in stock ponds and sloughs, for the protection of public health, aesthetics, and habitat.
• No fishing at Rush Ranch. Fishing is available nearby at California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Hill Slough Bridge fishing pier and at Solano County Parks' Belden's Landing. Contact them directly for more details.
• No hunting at Rush Ranch. Recreational hunting is available nearby at California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Grizzly Island and Joice Island Wildlife Area by permit during open seasons. Contact the Department of Fish and Wildlife for more details.
• No firearms, archery equipment, slingshots, air pistols, rifles, paintball guns or other weapons, except with the prior written approval of Solano Land Trust Land Steward.
• No geocaching, except with prior written approval from Solano Land Trust.

Rush Ranch Dog Policy
• No dogs are allowed on the Marsh Trail or South Pasture Trail.
• Leashed dogs are allowed around the Rush Ranch buildings, driveway and on the Suisun Hill Trail.
• Owners are required to pick up after their dogs.
• Owners of unleashed dogs will be asked to leave the ranch.
• Solano Land Trust reserves the right to ask owners of aggressive dogs to leave the ranch.
• All dogs are required to be leashed unless exception is granted by the executive director of Solano Land Trust.
Ranch and Backcountry Etiquette
• Deposit all trash and recycling in receptacles or carry it out with you.
• No collecting or removing plants, wildlife, artifacts, rocks, or other natural or cultural materials, except with written permission from Solano Land Trust or the San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
• No feeding, petting, chasing, etc. of wild animals and livestock, for the safety of both the public and the animals. Do not disturb newborn calves under any circumstances. If concerned about health or safety of an animal, notify Solano Land Trust Land Steward at the number below.
• When you pass through a gate, leave it exactly as you found it. If concerned that livestock have access to an area where they do not belong, notify Jordan Knippenberg, Solano Land Trust Field Operations Manager, at 315-262-4090 or jordan@solanolandtrust.org.
