 r Cordelia.  King Ranch is home to many beautiful native butterflies\, inc
 luding the rare Calippe Silverspot Butterfly. \n\nIf you’re interested in 
 learning more about butterfly counts as you help us count butterflies\, pl
 ease join us on Thursday\, June 11th at 1:30 PM. \n\nLocal butterfly exper
 t Paul Johnson and colleagues will lead a visit to one of the few location
 s where Silverspots are known to mate.\n \nMeet at the King Ranch access r
 oad gate on Lopes Road north of Marshview Road (King Ranch volunteers and 
 visitors are allowed to drive past the signs and barricades at Marshview R
 oad).  Carpooling is encouraged.  The access road is mostly paved but has 
 a substantial growth of weeds between the wheeltracks.  Vehicles are limit
 ed to a maximum speed of 10 mph at the hilltop parking area to protect the
  butterflies.  Be prepared for variable temperatures and strong winds.  Br
 ing water\, sunglasses\, hats\, and binoculars.  Wear sturdy hiking shoes.
   Owing to thistles and ticks\, shorts are not recommended. \n
